Pakistan warns Taliban: End TTP, RAW support now

Published on: September 17, 2025 3:26 PM

Pakistan summoned the Afghan interim ambassador to demand the Taliban government distance itself from the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Islamabad gave a clear warning against the presence of TTP and India’s intelligence agency RAW in Afghanistan. Pakistan urged the Taliban to fulfill their promises to eliminate these terrorist groups from their soil.

Through Afghan interim ambassador Sardar Ahmad Shakib, Pakistan stressed that Afghan territory must not be used for terrorist activities. The Foreign Office demanded the Taliban government ensure their land is not a safe haven for terrorism. Pakistan emphasized the global recognition of TTP as a terrorist organization and urged the Afghan side to act accordingly.

The warning came amid a rise in terrorist activities by TTP and other extremist groups sheltered in Afghanistan. Pakistan highlighted that these groups receive full financial support and backing from RAW. Additional Foreign Secretary Syed Ali Asad Gilani conveyed Pakistan’s firm message during the meeting with the Afghan envoy.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s special envoy for Afghanistan, Muhammad Sadiq Khan, has returned from an undisclosed mission in the UAE. He is expected to brief Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif with a detailed report soon. There are also plans for a senior official delegation to visit Kabul this week to further engage with the Taliban leadership.

Pakistan’s message underlines Islamabad’s insistence on Afghan cooperation to stop terrorism against Pakistan. The issue remains a key point in Pakistan-Afghanistan relations and regional security concerns. Islamabad continues to press the Taliban for action against terrorist groups operating from Afghan soil.
