Sindh Senior Minister and Provincial Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon has said that the Sindh government is always active in providing relief to the people during natural disasters and emergencies.
During relief operations, victims are not only being moved to safe places, but full arrangements are also being made for their food, water, medical treatment, and animal care. In a statement, he said that the Sindh government will not leave the people alone and will stand with them in every time of need. All government institutions, district administrations, and rescue teams are working day and night to help the victims so that as many lives and properties as possible can be saved.
Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said that there is a high flood level in Guddu and Sukkur, while the flood level in Kotri is low. In the last 24 hours, 3,522 people have been moved to safer places in the province, bringing the total number of people relocated to 173,027. Out of these, 469 people are still staying in relief camps. He said that 183 fixed and mobile health sites are operating in the province, where more than 4,174 patients were treated in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of patients treated so far to 92,958.
He added that the Sindh government is also taking steps to protect livestock. In the last 24 hours, 3,192 cattle were moved to safer places, bringing the total to 450,571. Similarly, in the last 24 hours, 39,589 cattle were provided with vaccines and medical facilities, bringing the total number of treated and vaccinated cattle to 1,305,573.
Meanwhile, in view of the flood situation in Sindh, the process of providing timely and comprehensive medical facilities to the affected population is ongoing through the regional and district teams of PPHI Sindh, in collaboration with the Health Department.
According to the Information Department, Government of Sindh, PPHI Sindh has so far established a total of 977 medical camps, where 66,761 patients have received treatment. These include: 13,053 children, 19,285 cases of flu, 5,649 cases of diarrhea, 5,225 cases of malaria, 17,328 cases of skin diseases and 2,434 cases of conjunctivitis.
Furthermore, 300 individuals received family planning services, 373 women received antenatal care, 9 women had normal deliveries, 119 women received postnatal care, besides, a total of 6,438 laboratory tests were conducted.
The department further informed that 65 medical camps were set up today alone, treating 4,716 patients, including 855 children, 1,176 cases of flu, 279 cases of diarrhea, 327 cases of malaria, 1,195 cases of skin diseases, 190 cases of conjunctivitis, 8 cases of dog bites and 5 cases of snake bites.
According to the report states of today 25 individuals received family planning services, 15 women received antenatal care, 1 woman received postnatal care and 607 laboratory tests were conducted while no fatalities have been reported.
According to PPHI Sindh, four health facilities have been submerged, but immediate alternative arrangements have been made, and no facility has been shut down. The organization states that its teams are on high alert and actively providing emergency medical assistance in any critical situation.
