Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed that anyone using a mobile phone is “holding a piece of Israel” in their hands. He made the statement during a meeting with a U.S. Congressional delegation in West Jerusalem. Netanyahu praised Israel’s technological role in global smartphone components and intelligence sharing.
He said mobile phone users around the world unknowingly benefit from Israeli innovation. “If you have a phone, you’re holding a piece of Israel,” Netanyahu told the delegates. He also highlighted Israel’s contributions in areas like medicine, weapons systems, and agriculture. “Even your tomatoes come from Israel,” he added with a smile.
Facing growing global criticism over Gaza strikes and arms export bans, Netanyahu admitted that some countries have stopped supplying parts for Israeli weapons. However, he insisted Israel would overcome this challenge. “Yes, we can handle it. We’re good at making weapons,” he said confidently.
Netanyahu also acknowledged that Qatar and other countries have isolated Israel diplomatically over its recent actions. Still, he defended Israel’s strength and technological edge. “Much of your intelligence data comes from us,” he told the American delegation, referring to U.S.-Israel cooperation.
His remarks came amid rising tensions in the Middle East, with international pressure mounting on Israel. Netanyahu’s comments suggest Israel is leaning on its tech influence and military capability to maintain global relevance despite diplomatic setbacks.
