Security forces killed dozens of terrorists during Bannu Lakki Marwat operations over the weekend. According to ISPR, the missions were launched after receiving reports of militant activity. Troops engaged hostile positions with heavy fire, eliminating threats and destroying hideouts used for weapons storage and planning attacks.
Local sources claimed that fighter jets also struck militant sanctuaries in Bakkakhel, Bannu district. The strikes destroyed a school and a community hall being used to store explosives and ammunition. Officials said the assaults left multiple terrorists dead and many others injured. However, ISPR did not confirm the aerial strikes in its official statement.
The military confirmed that 31 terrorists linked to the banned TTP were killed in the clearance operations. Fourteen militants were eliminated in Lakki Marwat, while 17 more were neutralised in Bannu. Security forces have launched sanitisation efforts in the surrounding areas to ensure no remaining fighters escape.
Officials added that intelligence indicated militants were planning subversive attacks in the region. The presence of fighters in Shaikh Badin mountain range raised concerns, prompting authorities to increase vigilance and take preventive action. They stressed that the successful Bannu Lakki Marwat operations disrupted terrorist networks and foiled major plans.
Meanwhile, five security personnel, including Captain Waqir Kakar, were martyred in a separate IED attack in Balochistan’s Kech district. Authorities vowed to continue efforts until terrorism is wiped out. The Bannu Lakki Marwat operations highlight Pakistan’s ongoing resolve to secure its borders and eliminate extremist threats.
