Federal Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan arrived in Tehran on Sunday to push forward Pakistan Iran trade relations. He began a three-day official visit focused on economic cooperation and investment opportunities. According to the commerce ministry, his trip aims to inject new momentum into bilateral commercial ties.
Khan will co-chair the 22nd Session of the Pakistan-Iran Joint Economic Commission and lead the Pakistan-Iran Business Forum. He is also scheduled to meet senior Iranian officials and key ministers. The discussions will focus on expanding cooperation across sectors including energy, infrastructure, and cross-border trade.
Pakistan and Iran already share multiple agreements covering energy, agriculture, technology, and border management. In August, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian visited Islamabad, where the two sides signed 12 agreements and MoUs. These included joint use of the Mirjaveh-Taftan border gate, cooperation in ICT, and scientific collaboration.
During his Tehran visit, Khan is expected to strengthen these frameworks further. Officials say the Business Forum will also allow private companies from both countries to explore fresh opportunities. The focus will be on increasing trade volumes, reducing barriers, and developing infrastructure to ease cross-border movement of goods.
According to the commerce ministry, this visit represents a step toward long-term economic integration between the neighbors. By advancing Pakistan Iran trade, both sides hope to create new opportunities for growth and stability. The meetings this week could lay the groundwork for stronger bilateral partnerships in the years ahead.
