Petroleum prices in Pakistan are expected to increase from September 16, 2025, following recommendations by the oil industry. The proposed hike includes all major fuel types and will be effective for 15 days once approved. The final decision rests with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
According to industry sources, petrol may go up by Rs1.54 per liter, while high-speed diesel could rise by Rs4.79. Kerosene is expected to increase by Rs3.60 and light diesel by Rs3.68. These proposed adjustments do not yet include government taxes or exchange rate losses.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) will submit its pricing summary to the government on September 15. Once the Prime Minister reviews and approves the summary, the Finance Ministry will issue an official notification. The revised prices will then take effect across the country.
As of September 1, the current retail prices are Rs264.61 per liter for petrol and Rs269.99 per liter for diesel. Motorists should check fuel stations for exact rates. Online tools like the Shell Station Locator can help drivers find the nearest outlets.
If the hike is approved, this will mark the second price adjustment in September, further impacting transport and commodity costs. The public is advised to stay informed and plan fuel purchases accordingly.
