Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has issued a strong warning to Afghanistan, asking it to choose between supporting foreign militants or maintaining peaceful ties with Pakistan. He said Pakistan would continue to respond forcefully to terrorism without hesitation or confusion.
During a visit to Bannu, the prime minister and Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir attended a high-level security meeting. They also joined the funeral prayers for 12 martyred soldiers and visited wounded personnel at CMH Bannu hospital. Security officials briefed them in detail about the latest operations and threats in the region.
According to the briefing, the leaders of terror networks and their facilitators are based in Afghanistan, with support from India. Prime Minister Sharif said that those who advocate for “understanding” with such elements are acting as tools of enemy proxies and will be treated accordingly.
He stated that the people of Pakistan reject political narratives that create confusion about terrorism. The nation stands united with the armed forces and the state in fighting Indian-backed groups and their local sympathizers. “No tolerance will be shown toward double games or misleading statements,” he said.
The prime minister ordered immediate legal and administrative measures to counter terrorism more effectively. He also stressed that Afghan nationals have been found involved in recent attacks, and the presence of illegal Afghan residents in Pakistan must end soon.
