
DUBAI: In their opening match of the Asia Cup T20 2025, Pakistan gave Oman a target of 161 runs to chase. The match took place in Group A at the Dubai Cricket Stadium, where Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha won the toss and chose to bat first.
Pakistan’s batting line-up featured several young faces, including Saim Ayub, Sahibzada Farhan, Mohammad Haris, and Hasan Nawaz. Alongside them were experienced players like Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Nawaz, Faheem Ashraf, and Shaheen Shah Afridi. The playing XI also included Salman Ali Agha (captain), Abrar Ahmed, and Sufiyan Muqeem.
Batting first, Pakistan scored 160 runs for 7 wickets in their 20 overs. Mohammad Haris led the innings with a powerful knock of 66 runs. Sahibzada Farhan contributed 29, while Fakhar Zaman remained not out with 23. Saim Ayub and captain Salman Ali Agha were both dismissed for zero, while Mohammad Nawaz and Hasan Nawaz added 19 and 9 runs, respectively.
Oman’s bowlers put on a disciplined performance. Aamir Kaleem and Shah Faisal each took 3 wickets, restricting Pakistan from putting up an even bigger score. Their efforts kept Oman in the game going into the second innings.
This match marks the tournament debut for both teams. With a competitive total on the board, Pakistan will now look to defend it, while Oman will aim for a strong start in the chase.
