Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti clarified on Wednesday that the anti-terrorism law will not be used against ordinary citizens, emphasizing that it is meant solely to tackle terrorist activities with special arrangements.
Speaking to the media, Bugti cited the brutal killing of laborers in the Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman area as an example, noting that after terrorist incidents abroad, like in France, laws were swiftly adapted to respond effectively.
Recalling past attacks, he mentioned the 2016 killing of lawyers and said the mastermind, Saeed Badini, was caught but not tried on time. He highlighted the pain families endured while carrying coffins and witnessing injustice.
The chief minister stressed the importance of resolving the issue of missing persons once and for all. He assured that families will be informed immediately whenever someone is arrested, aiming to end the problem permanently.
Bugti added that terrorism has affected the entire nation and called for parliamentary leadership in the fight. He said that strong leadership is essential to prevent further attacks and stop terrorism at its roots.
He concluded by vowing that his government will never yield to terrorists, no matter the challenges. The CM emphasized that public safety and justice for victims remain top priorities in Balochistan.
