Pakistan condemns Israeli airstrike in Doha, stands with Qatar and Palestine

Published on: September 10, 2025 4:56 AM

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has strongly condemned Israel’s airstrike in Doha, calling it a dangerous violation of Qatar’s sovereignty. He described the bombing as a reckless provocation that threatens peace and stability in the region. The attack targeted residential buildings in Doha’s West Bay area, reportedly housing Hamas leaders.

In a call with Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Shehbaz expressed Pakistan’s deep sympathies and solidarity. He assured Qatar that Pakistan “stood like a rock” against Israeli aggression and reaffirmed full support for the people of Palestine. The premier also urged unity among Muslim countries during what he called a critical and testing time.

Qatar denounced the strike as a cowardly assault and a violation of international law. The UN Secretary-General echoed this view, warning the raid could derail fragile ceasefire efforts. Several Arab states, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Jordan, also condemned the strike as a grave escalation. Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman pledged full solidarity with Qatar and promised support to defend its sovereignty.

Israel, however, defended the attack, calling it a precision strike against senior Hamas leaders, including Khalil al-Hayya. The assault marked one of the first-ever Israeli military operations on Qatari soil, raising fears of widening conflict in the Gulf region. The raid has already triggered widespread international concern about its potential consequences.

Sheikh Tamim thanked Shehbaz Sharif for his call and Pakistan’s gesture of solidarity. He said the support was deeply valued and reflected the brotherly bond between the two nations. Both leaders agreed to remain in close contact and work together for regional peace and security. Pakistan also reaffirmed its commitment to stand with Palestine amid intensifying Israeli actions.
