Bahrain’s Interior Minister begins 3-day official visit to Pakistan

Published on: September 9, 2025 6:18 PM

Islamabad: Bahrain’s Interior Minister, Lieutenant General Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, arrived in Islamabad on a three-day official visit. He is visiting Pakistan at the invitation of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. Upon arrival, he was warmly received by Minister of State for Interior, Talal Chaudhry. A ceremonial guard of honour was presented by a smartly turned-out Islamabad Police contingent.

As part of his first-day engagements, the Bahraini minister visited the Pakistan Monument, where he was briefed on its national significance. He also laid a floral wreath at the Martyrs’ Memorial and offered prayers, honouring the sacrifices of Pakistani security personnel. The visit underlines the strong and growing ties between the two countries, particularly in security and law enforcement collaboration.

During the trip, Lt Gen Rashid bin Abdullah is scheduled to hold meetings with Pakistan’s top civil and military leadership. These discussions aim to enhance bilateral cooperation on key issues, including counter-terrorism, human trafficking, drug control, and overall regional security. Both sides are expected to sign agreements to strengthen institutional cooperation.

The visit comes at a time when both nations are seeking deeper strategic alignment, especially in areas of intelligence sharing and border control. Pakistan and Bahrain already enjoy close defence and economic relations, and this visit aims to take them further. Bahrain has also expressed interest in investing in Pakistan’s security tech infrastructure.

This high-level diplomatic visit reflects mutual trust and a shared vision for regional peace and stability. It is expected to produce actionable outcomes in law enforcement partnerships and counter-narcotics efforts. The Bahraini minister’s presence in Islamabad reaffirms the Gulf state’s support for Pakistan’s security priorities and its role in the region.
