PM, COAS attend funeral of martyred Major Adnan Aslam

Rawalpindi: Major Adnan Aslam, a brave 31-year-old officer of the Pakistan Army, was laid to rest in Rawalpindi with full military honours. He succumbed to injuries at CMH Rawalpindi after fighting terrorists in Bannu. According to ISPR, he showed exceptional bravery during an attack by Indian-backed Khawarij militants on September 2, 2025. He led his troops from the front and embraced martyrdom while defending his country. His sacrifice was praised across the nation as a symbol of courage and dedication.

The funeral was held at Chaklala Garrison in Rawalpindi and attended by top military and political leadership. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Army Chief General Asim Munir, federal ministers, and senior officers participated in the ceremony. The martyr’s family also attended the solemn event, where prayers were offered for his soul. The Prime Minister called Major Adnan “a national hero” and praised his courage and sacrifice. He said the major’s name will forever be remembered by the nation.

Speaking at the event, PM Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan has lost a true son of the soil. He added that the officer’s bravery reflects the unmatched spirit of the Pakistan Army. The Prime Minister stressed that such sacrifices keep the country safe and united. He also reaffirmed the government’s support for the families of martyrs. The Chief of Army Staff saluted the courage of Major Adnan and vowed to continue the fight against terrorism.

ISPR confirmed that Major Adnan was targeted in a cowardly terrorist attack in Bannu. Despite being critically injured, he continued to lead his soldiers. He was rushed to CMH Rawalpindi but could not survive his injuries. His body was later transported to his hometown, where he was buried with full military honours. The community gathered to pay respects and support the grieving family.

Meanwhile, tributes poured in on social media for the fallen hero. Citizens praised his courage and dedication to the motherland. His martyrdom has sparked fresh calls for unity and resilience in the fight against terrorism. The military reiterated that it will not rest until every terrorist is brought to justice. The nation stands firm with its armed forces in honouring those who lay down their lives in defence of Pakistan.
