OpenAI announces AI-powered job platform to rival LinkedIn

Published on: September 6, 2025 6:09 PM

OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, has announced a new AI-driven job platform. It will connect job seekers with companies using artificial intelligence. The platform, called OpenAI Job Platform, is expected to launch by mid-2026. According to the company, the system will help users find the best matches for skills and job requirements. It will focus on both large corporations and small local businesses, offering equal opportunities for all.

The AI platform will use advanced tools to pair candidates with employers effectively. By analyzing skills, experience, and company needs, it promises accurate job matches. Additionally, government jobs and local businesses will receive special focus through dedicated tracks. This ensures that smaller organizations can find talent without facing recruitment challenges. Overall, OpenAI aims to make hiring faster, fairer, and more efficient.

Moreover, the platform is designed to compete directly with professional networking sites like LinkedIn. OpenAI plans to leverage AI’s capabilities to stand out in career networking. Users can expect smarter recommendations and tailored connections. Companies will benefit from quicker hiring and reduced mismatches. The platform also allows for better access to emerging roles in technology and AI fields.

OpenAI is also launching a certification program through its OpenAI Academy. The program will train individuals in AI skills and provide recognized credentials. Participants will gain expertise in AI, improving their employability. The initiative will run with support from various companies. Furthermore, the program aligns with the platform’s goal of creating a skilled workforce ready for AI-driven opportunities.

In addition, a similar training initiative is being launched with Walmart. This program aims to train and certify 10 million Americans by 2030. It will help prepare participants for careers in AI and technology. OpenAI’s dual approach—job platform and skill development—demonstrates its commitment to bridging talent gaps. Experts believe this could reshape the job market and make AI skills widely accessible.
