Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari visited flood-affected areas in Kasur and praised Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for her response efforts. During the visit, Bilawal distributed food packages at Ganda Singh Wala border and met with flood victims and farmers.
Speaking to the media, Bilawal said the destruction in the flood-hit regions was severe. He acknowledged that Maryam Nawaz and her team were working very hard. However, he stressed that the Punjab government could not handle the disaster alone. “The federal government must step in and support,” he added.
Bilawal said Punjab’s farmers had suffered the most damage due to the floods. He called for the government to declare an “agriculture emergency” in the region. He urged Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to provide seeds and fertilizer at reduced prices and to extend support through the Benazir Income Support Program.
He also directed PPP workers and leaders to assist the flood victims in all affected areas. Bilawal emphasized that protecting the agriculture sector was critical for food security and the economy. “This is not just a provincial issue, it’s a national crisis,” he warned.
Bilawal further criticized India for violating international laws. He said India had refused to share water flow data under the Indus Waters Treaty. “Modi’s government is committing water terrorism,” he said. “Either India must respect the treaty or return our rivers.”
