At least 71 Palestinians died in new Israeli strikes across Gaza in the past 24 hours. Among the dead were four children. The attacks targeted residential areas and refugee camps. Hospitals in Gaza are overwhelmed and face critical shortages of medical supplies. The ongoing bombardment adds to the immense suffering in the besieged territory.
Meanwhile, the famine crisis worsens, with two more people dying from starvation recently. Since the war began, 273 people have died from hunger, including 112 children. Most of these deaths resulted from severe malnutrition and lack of medical care. Families survive on minimal food, often skipping meals for days. The humanitarian disaster grows more severe by the hour.
The United Nations directly blames Israeli restrictions on food and aid shipments for the famine. UN Human Rights chief Volker Türk called the starvation deaths a “direct consequence of Israeli actions.” He warned these actions might amount to war crimes under international law. Additionally, a UN report classified northern Gaza as famine-stricken, affecting over half a million people.
UNICEF raised alarm over the children’s suffering, saying Gaza’s kids face “unimaginable suffering” amid hunger and constant airstrikes. Despite this, Israel dismissed the UN’s famine claims as politically motivated. However, UN humanitarian chief Tom Fletcher criticized Israel for blocking aid convoys. Thousands of tons of food and medicine remain stuck at border crossings.
Aid agencies warn that without immediate humanitarian access, more lives will be lost. The combination of airstrikes and starvation creates a dire emergency. International calls for urgent aid and ceasefire grow louder. The people of Gaza face a bleak future unless the crisis is addressed quickly.
