The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced a Rs15,000 food package for each flood-affected family. This decision was made during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur. The meeting reviewed ongoing relief and rehabilitation efforts in the province’s flood-hit districts.
Deputy commissioners from Buner, Swat, Shangla, Mansehra, Battagram, Lower Dir, Bajaur, Swabi, and Tank joined via video link. Officials reported that 70 to 80% of damage data has been compiled, with the rest expected soon. The chief minister directed authorities to prepare cheques for immediate payment via mobile banking.
Compensation for fully destroyed houses has been raised from Rs400,000 to Rs1 million. Partially damaged homes will receive Rs300,000, up from Rs100,000. Losses of livestock will also be compensated, with Rs500 million allocated to provide fodder for affected animals.
Gandapur emphasized special focus on Bajaur’s displaced families, instructing that they too receive the Rs15,000 package. He also ordered damage surveys to start immediately in Tank, Dera Ismail Khan, and South Waziristan.
The chief minister said vehicle owners who lost their vehicles in floods will get Rs500,000 compensation. A proposal for this will be presented to the cabinet for approval soon.
