A massive fire erupted in a chemical warehouse near Ghani Chowrangi in Karachi’s Maripur area on Tuesday afternoon, quickly spreading across the facility and creating thick plumes of smoke visible from miles away.
Fire brigade officials confirmed that two fire engines immediately reached the site and began efforts to control the flames, while more reinforcements were called to prevent the fire from intensifying.
Residents of nearby areas reported panic as the fire continued to grow, with authorities urging people to stay away from the site due to possible hazardous fumes released from burning chemicals.
Moreover, traffic police diverted vehicles from the affected routes to ensure smooth emergency operations, while rescue teams remained on alert in case of injuries or further escalation.
Officials stated that the cause of the fire is still unknown; however, initial assessments suggest it may have been triggered by flammable substances stored inside the warehouse without proper safety measures.
Meanwhile, authorities have assured that all resources are being utilized to contain the blaze, while an investigation will be launched to determine negligence and implement stricter safety regulations for chemical storage facilities.
