CDA adjusts duty hours to control stray dog threat

Published on: August 10, 2025 4:49 PM

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has adjusted the working hours of its stray dog control teams after six people suffered dog bite injuries in Islamabad during the past week. Authorities believe the new schedule will allow teams to work more effectively and cover more dangerous areas during peak times. These incidents have raised public concern and increased pressure on the CDA to take immediate action to address the growing stray dog population in the city.

Under the new plan, CDA teams will now operate from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM and again from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM. This adjustment aims to cover the hours when stray dogs are most active, ensuring faster response to reported cases. Officials say the change will also help teams work in cooler hours during the day, making operations safer for staff and more effective in capturing dogs.

Reports indicate that many neighborhoods in the federal capital are heavily infested with stray dogs, creating an environment of fear among residents. This problem is particularly severe in residential areas where schools, playgrounds, and markets are nearby. Moreover, repeated incidents have discouraged people from walking freely in the streets, especially in the evening and early morning.

Women, children, and elderly citizens are reported to be the most frequent victims of dog attacks. These groups often lack the ability to defend themselves or move quickly to safety, making them easy targets. Residents say the fear of attack has significantly disrupted daily life and limited outdoor activities in many parts of the city.

In response, residents have urged the CDA to increase the number of dog control teams working in Islamabad. They believe that without additional manpower, the current efforts may not be enough to fully address the issue. Many have also requested a long-term strategy, including vaccination and sterilization programs, to control the stray dog population without relying solely on culling.

If you want, I can also rewrite this one to make it sound sharper and more engaging for online readers while keeping the same structure.
