ICC rankings: Hasan, Saim soar; Babar slips

Published on: August 6, 2025 4:02 PM

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has released the latest T20 player rankings after several recent international matches. India’s Abhishek Sharma maintains the top spot among batters due to consistent performances. Australia’s Travis Head holds second place, followed by India’s Tilak Varma in third, both showing steady form in the ongoing season.

Pakistan’s Hasan Nawaz and Saim Ayub made remarkable progress in the T20 batter rankings, reflecting their recent strong performances in domestic and international games. Hasan Nawaz jumped 24 places to rank 30th, while Saim Ayub improved by 25 places, reaching 38th position. In contrast, Pakistan’s captain Babar Azam experienced a slight decline, dropping three places to settle at 17th, as other players gained momentum.

Among other batters, India’s Yashasvi Jaiswal rose one spot to 10th, showcasing his growing impact on the international stage. Australia’s Tim David climbed two places to 16th, strengthening his reputation as a key middle-order player in T20 cricket. These shifts underline the dynamic and competitive nature of the T20 format worldwide.

In bowling rankings, Pakistani bowlers also showed notable gains. Sufiyan Muqeem made a stunning leap of 69 places to reach 35th, thanks to his recent impressive spells. Muhammad Nawaz improved by 51 places, now ranked 56th, highlighting Pakistan’s emerging bowling talent in the shorter format. These improvements indicate a bright future for Pakistan’s bowling lineup in international T20 cricket.

Overall, the new ICC rankings reflect a mix of rising stars and established players battling for top positions. Pakistan’s young talents like Hasan Nawaz and Saim Ayub are making their presence felt, while veterans like Babar Azam work to regain their earlier form. Fans and experts will closely watch these players as the T20 season progresses.
