Fawad Khan, Rahat join Pakistan idol reboot panel

Published on: August 4, 2025 4:46 PM

Pakistan Idol is making a major comeback more than a decade after its first season, and the confirmed judging panel has already created excitement. Superstar Fawad Khan, music legends Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Bilal Maqsood, and celebrated singer Zeb Bangash will serve as the show’s judges in its highly awaited reboot.

The original season aired from late 2013 to mid-2014 and gained massive popularity, with millions voting in the grand finale. The show marked Pakistan’s entry into the global Idol franchise, featuring top-tier judges like Ali Azmat, Hadiqa Kiani, and Bushra Ansari. Now, with a refreshed panel and broader goals, the new season promises even bigger impact.

This latest version is being produced by MHL Global in collaboration with Freemantle, the international distributor of the Idol format. The producers shared that Pakistan’s talent deserves global exposure, and the reboot is a step in that direction. For the first time in franchise history, the show will be broadcast on five TV networks simultaneously to maximize nationwide reach.

Auditions have already started online through the Begin platform, allowing singers from all backgrounds to participate. In the coming weeks, in-person auditions will be held across major cities and even in some remote areas. This strategy aims to ensure diverse and inclusive participation from all corners of the country.

Production is expected to begin later this year, with the air date yet to be announced. However, the show’s return, combined with its star-studded panel and wider accessibility, is already building buzz across social media and fan communities. Viewers can expect a powerful platform that celebrates real, homegrown talent.
