Pakistan wins T20 series against West Indies with strong finish

Published on: August 4, 2025 11:13 AM

Pakistan secured the T20 series against West Indies by winning the final match by 13 runs, claiming the series 2-1. The last game took place in Lauderhill, Florida, where Pakistan’s captain Salman Ali Agha won the toss and chose to bat first. This decision set the tone for a strong total.

Thanks to impressive half-centuries from Saif Ayub and Sahibzada Farhan, Pakistan scored 189 runs for the loss of four wickets in their 20 overs. Sahibzada Farhan scored 74 runs while Saif Ayub contributed 66 runs. Other batsmen like Hasan Nawaz and Khushdil Shah added useful runs to the total.

Chasing 190, West Indies managed 176 runs for six wickets in their 20 overs but fell short by 13 runs. Although openers gave a solid start with 44 runs, the team struggled to maintain momentum as wickets fell at crucial times. Pakistani bowlers kept pressure on the batsmen throughout the innings.

Key performers for West Indies included Alec Athanaze, who scored 60 runs, and Shamarh Rutherford with 51 runs. Despite their efforts, the team could not reach the target. Pakistani spinners played a vital role by taking important wickets and turning the game in Pakistan’s favor.

On the bowling front, Hasan Ali, Mohammad Nawaz, Haris Rauf, Saif Ayub, and Sufiyan Muqeem each took a wicket, showcasing Pakistan’s balanced attack. Their combined efforts successfully restricted the West Indies and secured the win. The team’s strong bowling was critical to the final victory.

Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi congratulated the national team for their outstanding performance in the series. He praised the team’s spirit, teamwork, and determination. Naqvi expressed pride in the players for raising the nation’s flag high on international soil and encouraged them to continue their winning streak.
