The Lahore High Court (LHC) raised an objection to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) petition seeking permission for a public rally. The rally is planned at Minar-e-Pakistan on August 5. However, the court office pointed out that PTI did not first use the government’s grievance redressal committee. This committee must be approached before filing such petitions.
PTI’s MPA Imtiaz Mehmood Sheikh filed the petition. He said the party applied to the Deputy Commissioner of Lahore for a no-objection certificate (NOC). The petition states that the NOC has not yet been issued. This delay prompted PTI to seek the court’s help.
Sheikh requested the court to direct the authorities to grant the NOC quickly. Alternatively, he asked for a different venue for the rally. PTI aims to hold the event as a major political gathering. The party wants to ensure its right to public assembly.
The court’s objection stresses the importance of following legal procedures. It reminds petitioners to use administrative channels before going to court. This approach helps reduce unnecessary legal challenges. It also ensures orderly handling of public events.
PTI awaits the government’s response on the NOC. The party remains hopeful to conduct the rally on the planned date. PTI stresses peaceful political expression and public participation. The situation continues to develop as authorities consider the request.
