Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi announced a series of rallies and protests on August 5. The events will show support for Kashmir and Palestine. JI Karachi Ameer Monem Zafar Khan made the announcement during a press conference at Idara Noor-e-Haq. He called August 5 “Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir,” marking India’s 2019 move to revoke Kashmir’s special status.
Monem Zafar strongly criticized India’s actions in Kashmir. He compared them to Israeli attacks in Gaza. He said both governments are violating human rights. He also blamed the global community for staying silent. Monem pointed to starvation in Gaza and said over 60,000 civilians had died.
He urged Pakistan’s leadership to act, especially the army. He called on Field Marshal Asim Munir to unite the Muslim world. Pakistan, he said, has a larger duty as a nuclear state. He also criticized Muslim countries for failing to respond to the crisis in Gaza.
Turning to local issues, Monem slammed the Sindh government over Karachi’s worsening law and order. He cited shocking figures: 56 people killed in street crimes, over 26,000 bikes stolen, and 354 deaths in road accidents in six months. He accused the government of ignoring these issues while pushing people to pay again for vehicle number plates.
Despite the challenges, JI said its ‘Make Karachi Green’ campaign is moving forward. The party plans to plant 100,000 saplings citywide. Monem also demanded transparency in the government’s housing promises for flood victims and called for clear answers on funding delays in the K4 water project.
