In a bold show of support for Palestinians, Yemen’s armed forces launched a ballistic missile at Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport. The hypersonic missile, named ‘Palestine-2’, reportedly struck its target successfully near Tel Aviv. Following the attack, over 4 million Israelis were forced to take shelter, and airport operations were temporarily suspended.
According to Iranian state media, Yemen’s military confirmed the strike in an official statement. The missile attack was part of an ongoing air blockade campaign intended to pressure Israel to end its war in Gaza. Yemen says this is also a direct response to Israel’s total siege of the region.
Yemeni forces claim they have repeatedly targeted Ben Gurion Airport with similar attacks. On the same day, Italy and India extended flight suspensions to the airport until September 30 and October 25, respectively. This air blockade, first enforced in May, is considered a major escalation by Yemen in its support of the Palestinian cause.
Israeli journalist Doron Kadosh reported that Yemen has fired at least 15 missiles toward Israeli territory in the past month alone. Since March, nearly 67 ballistic missiles and 18 armed drones have been launched at Israeli targets. The pace indicates an attack roughly every two days.
Yemen’s military warned that it remains fully alert and ready to respond to any Israeli aggression. The statement also accused Israel of trying to destroy Yemeni infrastructure to stop its support for Palestinians. However, Yemeni leaders vowed to continue resisting and defending their cause until the enemy’s efforts fail.
