The world is turning its attention to the aggressive nationalism of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Both leaders have built their power on religious supremacy, but international backlash and domestic criticism are now shaking their foundations. Their strategies, once seen as strong leadership, are increasingly being exposed as harmful both at home and abroad.
Modi’s Hindutva agenda, deeply rooted in Hindu supremacy, is now facing global scrutiny. His use of media control and military action to gain public support was recently challenged in the Indian Parliament. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi accused Modi of risking regional peace for political gain, especially during Operation Sindoor, which aimed to spark nationalist support instead of ensuring true security.
Similarly, Netanyahu’s aggressive policies in Gaza have caused immense destruction and global condemnation. Tens of thousands of Palestinians have died, while international media and human rights groups are calling it genocide. Despite potential peace deals, Netanyahu reportedly prolonged the war to avoid facing trial for criminal charges in Israel, as reported by The New York Times.
Adding to the pressure, US President Donald Trump openly criticized both leaders. He denounced India’s trade policies and called its economy “dead,” while acknowledging Gaza’s humanitarian crisis, going against his earlier support for Netanyahu. Trump’s tariffs on Indian goods and his warning to Indian oil buyers dealing with Iran have created serious diplomatic and economic consequences.
Moreover, countries like France, the UK, and Canada are now moving toward officially recognizing Palestine. This shows that global powers are no longer willing to back Israel’s violent occupation. Meanwhile, India finds itself isolated as both China and the US push back against its policies, weakening its influence on the world stage.
In the end, both Modi and Netanyahu’s religiously driven nationalism appears to be failing. While their controlled media may keep praising them, global powers and even their own citizens are demanding accountability. The world is no longer accepting leaders who use religion to justify oppression and war.
