Sindh Rangers and Malir Police arrested six suspects during a joint operation in Karachi’s Korangi area on Thursday. The suspects allegedly robbed cargo trucks and kidnapped truck drivers on routes from Karachi to other cities. The operation was based on sensitive intelligence, aiming to stop the gang’s criminal activities. Authorities say the suspects would steal goods, abandon trucks in isolated places, and hide kidnapped drivers in unknown locations. The arrested group is part of a larger gang with 20 to 25 members active in Karachi.
Among the arrested was Irfan, also known as Irfanullah, an Afghan national and a key member of a drug trafficking network. He used intercity buses and trucks to move drugs across the country this year. During the raid, law enforcement seized 308,308 narcotic pills, three digital scales, a counting machine, and weapons. They also recovered mobile phones and fake identification cards used for smuggling. These items proved the suspects’ involvement in drug trafficking and robbery.
The arrested suspects were wanted in several cases registered in different police stations across Karachi. Police have now taken custody of the suspects for further investigation and legal proceedings. Authorities believe the operation will help curb similar crimes in the future. This move also aims to secure transport routes for safer cargo movement. It demonstrates law enforcement’s commitment to protecting public safety and business interests.
Earlier this week, Karachi’s Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) killed three terrorists during an operation in Manghopir. Among them was the mastermind of the November 2024 attack on Chinese engineers. The terrorists belonged to the banned group Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). CTD officials said the operation was coordinated with intelligence agencies. The killings show ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist networks in the city.
Overall, these actions reflect a strong stance by security forces against crime and terrorism in Karachi. The joint operations between Rangers, police, and CTD aim to restore law and order. Citizens and businesses can expect increased security in coming months. Authorities stress that continued cooperation and intelligence sharing are key. They also urge the public to report suspicious activities to help maintain peace.
