ICCI invites Bangladesh to boost investment in Pakistan

Published on: July 31, 2025 1:20 PM

During a business visit to Bangladesh, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) President Nasir Mansoor Qureshi urged Bangladeshi companies to explore investment opportunities in Pakistan. He highlighted sectors such as textiles, IT, agriculture, renewable energy, food processing, infrastructure, mining, and construction as areas with strong growth potential for both countries.

Qureshi, speaking to the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), called for stronger economic ties between Pakistan and Bangladesh. He emphasized the shared cultural and historical connections that form a solid foundation for deeper business collaboration. He also welcomed the recent visa-free access policy, calling it a long-overdue step toward enhanced bilateral relations.

The ICCI president strongly advocated for the early signing of a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two nations. Additionally, he pushed for more direct air routes to improve trade and tourism, suggesting that these steps would boost economic activity and bring people-to-people connections even closer.

DCCI President Taskeen Ahmed warmly received the ICCI delegation and appreciated its efforts to promote regional business cooperation. He stated that Bangladesh is ready to enter a new phase of trade and economic partnership with Pakistan, focused on mutual development and long-term collaboration.

Moreover, Taskeen stressed the importance of deeper institutional ties, joint ventures, and consistent knowledge-sharing between businesses in both countries. He said both chambers must take the lead in creating a stronger, more connected South Asia that can meet future economic challenges effectively.

Overall, the visit reinforced the need for regional unity through economic integration, with both chambers expressing hope for a brighter, more cooperative future for Pakistan and Bangladesh.
