Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has firmly stated that Pakistan has no plans to recognize Israel. Speaking at a press conference in New York, Dar emphasized Pakistan’s strong support for the two-state solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict. He said Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territories must end immediately for peace to be possible in the region.
Dar described his recent visit to the U.S. as highly successful. He highlighted productive talks with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, including a telephone call, where they discussed peace efforts, trade issues, and tariffs. Dar expressed confidence that a trade deal on tariffs between Pakistan and the U.S. would be finalized within the next few days, boosting bilateral economic ties.
On the Kashmir issue, Dar said Pakistan continuously raised the matter at the UN Security Council during its presidency. Addressing India, he made clear that Pakistan is ready for comprehensive dialogue whenever India desires, but strongly rejected India’s unilateral termination of the Indus Waters Treaty. Pakistan insists on its water rights over three major rivers and warned it will not accept any diversion or reduction in water flow.
Dar also praised the leadership of Field Marshal General Asim Munir and the Pakistan Army’s efforts for regional peace. However, he cautioned that recent provocative statements from India keep Pakistan alert and vigilant. Regarding Pakistan’s mineral resources, Dar explained that profits would be shared equally between provincial and federal governments, ensuring job creation for local communities and protecting national interests.
On Iran-Pakistan relations, Dar said it was an honor that Pakistani appreciation chants were heard in the Iranian parliament. He also spoke about progress with Afghanistan after his visit in April, mentioning talks with Afghan caretaker ministers and ongoing implementation of decisions. He highlighted that the planned railway link with Afghanistan will connect Pakistan to broader global trade networks, enhancing regional cooperation.
