Blast derails Jaffer express near Jacobabad, no casualties

Published on: July 28, 2025 3:50 PM

A powerful explosion on Monday morning severely disrupted the Jaffer Express as it traveled near Jacobabad, leading to the derailment of three coaches. The blast struck around 10:20am between Sultan Kot and Jacobabad, according to railway officials. The train, en route to Peshawar, was brought to an emergency halt after the explosion damaged the track and shook nearby passengers.

Rescue teams reached the scene quickly and confirmed that, despite the scale of the incident, no casualties had been reported. Emergency responders assessed the site for injuries, structural damage, and potential secondary hazards. Medical and rescue staff ensured that passengers remained safe and calm while they were escorted away from the damaged coaches. Relief teams also began restoring essential support systems in the affected area.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah took immediate notice of the incident and directed local authorities to provide all necessary assistance to passengers. He instructed medical teams to remain on standby and ordered that proper aid be delivered without delay. Furthermore, he demanded a complete investigation into the cause of the explosion, adding that those responsible must be identified and held accountable under the law.

In a strong statement, the Chief Minister condemned the blast as a violent attack on public infrastructure and the safety of citizens. He called the incident a direct act of aggression against the state and emphasized that such actions will not go unpunished. His office reassured the public that law enforcement and intelligence agencies are working together to track down the culprits behind this act of sabotage.

Railway operations in the affected zone have been temporarily suspended as forensic and security teams comb through the site for evidence. Engineers are inspecting the tracks for additional damage, while alternate travel routes are being considered for stranded passengers. Officials have also deployed additional security personnel to nearby stations to prevent further threats and ensure passenger safety going forward.

This shocking incident has raised urgent concerns about railway security and the vulnerability of transportation infrastructure. As the investigation continues, authorities are expected to release more details about the explosion’s origin and potential suspects. Meanwhile, citizens and passengers are being urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity along railway routes.
