
Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a farewell meeting with the European Union’s Ambassador to Pakistan, marking the conclusion of her tenure. The two discussed recent political developments in Pakistan and key bilateral issues, including trade, development cooperation, and regional stability.
The Prime Minister thanked the EU Ambassador for her pivotal role in strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between Pakistan and the European Union. He specifically praised the ambassador’s efforts during the 2022 floods, which brought timely EU assistance to the affected communities.
Shahbaz Sharif highlighted the European Union as one of Pakistan’s largest trading partners and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to maintaining the GSP Plus trade status. He underscored the importance of the scheme in boosting Pakistan’s exports and fostering economic growth.
The EU Ambassador expressed her appreciation for the warm cooperation she received from Pakistani officials and institutions throughout her posting. She also reaffirmed the EU’s continued support for Pakistan’s development goals and regional peace initiatives.
Both sides agreed to sustain and further deepen the strong partnership between Pakistan and the European Union in the years ahead.
