
The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) held a successful meeting in Dhaka under the chairmanship of Mohsin Naqvi. The ACC issued a statement announcing key decisions made during the gathering. The council approved the audited budget and confirmed events for 2025 and 2026. These include the inclusion of cricket in the 2026 Asian Games.
According to the announcement, the Asian Games will feature 10 men’s and 8 women’s cricket teams. Team selection will be based on official rankings. Additionally, Mongolia, the Philippines, and Uzbekistan were granted ACC membership. This expands the council’s reach across Asia.
Mohsin Naqvi said the meeting was very productive, with all 25 members participating. He stressed the importance of working together to develop cricket in the region. The council members agreed to keep politics out of cricket administration.
Regarding the Asia Cup schedule, Naqvi said talks are ongoing with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). He expressed hope the scheduling issues will be resolved soon. The ACC remains committed to organizing smooth and competitive tournaments.
