Federal Information Minister Atta Tarar said Imran Khan’s sons are free to run political campaigns, and no one is stopping them. However, he insisted they should also inform the public about their father’s conviction in a high-profile corruption case involving £190 million.
Speaking at a ceremony in Islamabad, Tarar praised Pakistan’s strong measures against terrorism, highlighting that Pakistan is the only country where even schools have been attacked by terrorists. He emphasized that terrorism transcends religion, color, and ethnicity, and called Pakistan a shield against terrorism for the world.
The minister also announced the launch of a new peace initiative aimed at combating terrorism and promoting security. He condemned a recent violent incident in Balochistan, which reflected ongoing challenges of extremism in the region.
Addressing the media, Tarar criticized former Prime Minister Imran Khan for failing to produce any evidence in the £190 million corruption case against him. He urged Imran Khan to explain to the public how he became involved in facilitating such a large illicit money transfer.
Tarar stressed that Imran’s sons are welcome to participate in political activities, but they must be transparent with the public about their father’s legal issues. He emphasized that the conviction was related to corruption, not politically motivated charges, and that accountability is essential for justice.
