Lahore faced heavy rain early Wednesday, leading to flooding in many low-lying areas across the city. Neighborhoods like Mall Road, Lakshmi Chowk, Garden Town, and Ferozepur Road were submerged as water accumulated rapidly. Frequent power outages were reported due to feeder trips, disrupting electricity supply in several districts.
Rescue 1122 officials confirmed that a roof collapsed in the Lokhoder Rang Road area, killing one person. Three others were injured and immediately taken to the hospital, where their conditions are reported to be stable. Urban Search and Rescue teams worked to pull three people alive from the debris after the incident.
This marks the second roof-collapse tragedy in Lahore during the ongoing monsoon season. Similar incidents of weak and old structures collapsing have also been reported in Karachi and other cities following recent storms. Authorities warn that heavy rains continue to pose risks, especially to vulnerable buildings.
Emergency services remain on high alert to respond quickly to any further incidents. The public is urged to exercise caution, avoid waterlogged areas, and report emergencies to rescue teams promptly. Officials remind residents to stay informed through official weather updates as the monsoon season progresses.
