PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) secured six out of eleven Senate seats in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly elections on Monday, while opposition parties collectively won five. The outcome followed a pre-agreed power-sharing formula between the treasury and opposition benches.
According to unofficial and unconfirmed results, PTI candidates Murad Saeed, Faisal Javed, Mirza Afridi, and Noorul Haq Qadri were elected on four general seats, while opposition candidates from PML-N, PPP, and JUI-F took the remaining three general seats. The winners include Niaz Ahmad (PML-N), Talha Mehmood (PPP), and Atta-ul-Haq (JUI-F).
On reserved seats for women, Rubina Naz of PTI and Rubina Khalid of PPP were declared successful. Rubina Naz received 89 votes, while Rubina Khalid secured support from the opposition bloc.
For technocrat seats, PTI’s Azam Swati and JUI-F’s Dilawar Khan were elected. PTI’s dissident candidate Khurram Zeeshan received no votes, confirming the party’s discipline in voting.
All 145 KP Assembly members cast their votes, and the polling concluded without disruption. The agreed 6–5 formula between PTI and the opposition held firm, with both sides winning seats in the agreed ratio.
