
PESHAWAR: Voting for 11 Senate seats from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) concluded on Monday, with unofficial and partial results showing a mixed outcome between the ruling party and the opposition.
All 145 members of the KP Assembly participated in the polling, which lasted several hours, reflecting a high voter turnout. The assembly members cast their ballots for general seats, women’s reserved seats, and technocrat seats, signaling an active engagement in the electoral process.
Early results indicate that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has secured four seats, strengthening its presence in the Senate from KP. The opposition parties also made gains, with at least two seats going to their candidates.
On the women’s reserved seat, Rubina Khalid of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) won, marking a notable victory for the party. The technocrat seats were claimed by PTI’s Azam Swati and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) candidate Dilawar Khan, reflecting diverse political representation.
Among the general seats, PTI’s Murad Saeed led the count with 26 votes, while his party colleagues Faisal Javed and Noorul Haq Qadri also emerged victorious with 22 and 21 votes, respectively.
The final official results are awaited as vote counting continues, with the Election Commission overseeing the process to ensure transparency. The Senate elections were conducted peacefully, with no reports of irregularities or disruptions.
