Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has ordered a ruthless crackdown on human smuggling networks and illegal immigration mafias operating in Pakistan. During his visit to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) headquarters in Islamabad, he stressed the need for immediate and strict action. He also paid tribute to the agency’s martyrs by laying floral wreaths at their memorial and offering prayers for their sacrifices.
While chairing a high-level meeting at the FIA headquarters, Naqvi approved key changes to modernize the agency. These include a complete restructuring plan and legal reforms to improve efficiency. He also sanctioned the purchase of modern equipment and advanced weaponry to support field operations. The minister emphasized that FIA must deliver on public expectations and that performance-based rewards would be introduced for officers.
In addition, Naqvi announced a zero-tolerance policy against individuals involved in human trafficking and those harming Pakistan’s global image. He directed FIA officials to adopt an iron-fisted approach against such criminal elements. The agency was instructed to simplify airport immigration processes and make travel procedures more convenient for the public.
Moreover, the minister ordered the creation of fast-track immigration counters at airports to reduce passenger delays. He also called for immediate hiring to fill vacant positions in the FIA. To ensure professional growth, the training curriculum will be upgraded and aligned with international standards. These steps aim to build a stronger and more responsive law enforcement system.
Naqvi also demanded a master plan for the renovation of the FIA headquarters building. He ordered the swift relocation of the FIA Academy to its newly allotted site and fast restoration work at the Karachi zonal office. These changes are intended to improve both working conditions and agency operations across the country.
FIA Director General Raja Riffat Mukhtar briefed the minister on current reforms and improvements. Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, Interior Secretary, CDA Chairman, and senior FIA officials were also present during the visit, supporting the ongoing efforts to transform the FIA into a more capable and modern institution.
