Security forces in Balochistan’s Kalat district killed four Indian-sponsored terrorists during a successful intelligence-based operation, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed on Sunday. The operation was launched after receiving reports about the presence of terrorists linked to the Indian-backed group “Fitna al Hindustan,” which has been involved in repeated attacks within Pakistan.
According to ISPR, security forces swiftly acted and engaged the terrorists’ hideout, resulting in an intense exchange of fire. As a result, all four terrorists were eliminated. Weapons, explosives, and ammunition were also recovered from the site. The military stressed that these terrorists were actively involved in numerous violent acts targeting security personnel and civilians in the region.
Furthermore, a sanitisation operation is underway to ensure that no other terrorists remain in the area. The military reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating the threat of Indian-sponsored terrorism from the country and ensuring lasting peace in the region. ISPR also reiterated the nation’s firm resolve to bring all terrorists and their facilitators to justice.
Meanwhile, Pakistan continues to face increasing militant threats, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Since the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan in 2021, Pakistan has experienced a notable rise in terror attacks, raising serious national security concerns. In May alone, 85 militant attacks were reported, marking a slight increase from the 81 attacks recorded in April.
Data from the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) revealed that these attacks led to 113 deaths, including 52 security personnel and 46 civilians. Civilian injuries jumped significantly, rising by 145% in just one month, while deaths among security forces surged by 73%, highlighting the dangerous environment faced by law enforcement agencies.
Despite the threats, Pakistan’s security forces have shown strong resistance. In May, they killed 59 militants in operations across various regions. The combined casualty toll from militant attacks and counterterrorism operations stood at 172, with 65 militants, 57 security personnel, and 46 civilians among the dead. The government continues to urge vigilance and national unity to counter terrorism in all its forms.
