KARACHI – In a major relief for households, the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) has dropped significantly in Karachi. The per-kilogram rate has declined from Rs340 to Rs240, bringing much-needed financial ease to consumers.
This sharp Rs100 reduction follows weeks of high LPG prices that were triggered by rising tensions between Iran and Israel. However, as global markets have now stabilized, energy prices are gradually returning to normal levels.
Residents of Karachi welcomed the price cut, calling it a helpful move during a time of high inflation. Many expressed that even if temporary, the lower LPG cost will reduce kitchen expenses and ease daily household burdens.
Previously, ongoing instability in the Middle East had caused panic in energy markets, leading to sharp price increases. Now that the situation appears to be settling, LPG prices are correcting, providing immediate local benefits.
However, consumers believe this step alone is not enough. They stressed that the government must address frequent domestic gas load shedding to reduce seasonal reliance on LPG, especially during the winter months.
Moving forward, citizens urge policymakers to implement long-term energy solutions. They say consistent access to affordable energy is essential for both household stability and the broader economic well-being of the country.
