The newly appointed Deputy Commissioner of Muzaffargarh, Muhammad Usman Tahir Jappa, has formally assumed charge of his office. Soon after taking charge, he participated in a video link meeting with the Senior Member Board of Revenue (SMBR) to review the district administration’s preparedness for the expected floods.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Oved Irshad Bhatti, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Yousaf Chheena, Assistant Commissioner Azhar Zahoor, and other concerned officers also attended the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Usman Tahir said that he would work in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, with a focus on resolving public issues, promoting development, and ensuring public welfare. He said improving the performance of district departments would remain a top priority.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner called on Commissioner Ashfaq Ahmad Chaudhry. The two officials discussed district administrative affairs, governance challenges, and the ongoing and upcoming development projects initiated under the directives of the Punjab Chief Minister.
Commissioner Chaudhry congratulated Usman Tahir on assuming his new role and expressed full confidence in his capabilities. He said solving public problems and completing development projects in a timely manner were key priorities of the current government, and the district administration must deliver in a proactive and accountable manner.
Projects discussed in the meeting included initiatives in education, health, clean drinking water, sanitation, the Clean Punjab campaign, the Apna Chhat Apna Ghar housing scheme, agriculture, and infrastructure development.
DC Usman Tahir assured that transparency and merit would be upheld in the execution of these projects. He pledged to treat public service as a mission, with a strong emphasis on improving service delivery across the district. He also said that field visits would be conducted regularly to take decisions based on ground realities.
Commissioner Ashfaq Ahmad Chaudhry directed the Deputy Commissioner to strictly follow the Punjab government’s vision regarding development, law and order, and public welfare initiatives.
