Pakistan has proposed a strategic tri-party partnership with Saudi Arabia and Sudan to strengthen regional food security and foster economic growth. This collaboration aims to leverage Sudan’s vast fertile lands, Saudi Arabia’s financial investment capacity, and Pakistan’s proven agricultural expertise. The joint ventures will target critical sectors including sugar processing, meat export, and supporting infrastructure development such as slaughterhouses and food technology transfer centers.
Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain highlighted the promising potential of this partnership during a meeting with Sudan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Salih Mohamed Ahmed Mohamed Siddig, held on Friday.
He emphasized that the collaboration would benefit all three nations by encouraging Pakistani private sector involvement in Sudan’s sugar and meat industries. Mr. Hussain also underlined Pakistan’s commitment to becoming a regional hub for international agricultural cooperation and innovation.
He pointed out that such cooperation aligns perfectly with Pakistan’s broader goals of enhancing food security, increasing investment, and fostering South-South cooperation for sustainable development. Pakistan’s expertise in advanced crop production techniques, efficient irrigation methods, and livestock health management positions it as a valuable partner to support Sudan’s agricultural ambitions.
The Sudanese ambassador acknowledged the strong cultural and historical ties between the two countries and expressed enthusiasm for expanding bilateral cooperation. He praised Sudan’s success in maintaining high livestock health standards, ensuring that its meat exports to Gulf markets remain disease-free and of premium quality.
In addition to agricultural trade, the discussion included Pakistan’s offer to assist Sudan’s education sector by providing more seats for Sudanese students at the University of Agriculture in Faisalabad. The partnership may also extend to veterinary science, breeding programs, and poultry management to enhance technical expertise and productivity.
Both sides agreed to pursue further collaboration across multiple sectors, focusing especially on sustainable agricultural practices. This initiative aims to tackle the region’s growing food security challenges while promoting shared prosperity through innovation and cooperation.
