Pakistan has strongly urged the global community to ensure the immediate supply of food and fuel to Gaza, where people continue to suffer from severe shortages. Speaking at a UN meeting on the Middle East, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, said that famine in Gaza must not be tolerated any longer. He warned that innocent Palestinians are dying due to hunger while the world watches in silence.
The ambassador emphasized that ending Israel’s occupation is vital for long-term peace in the region. He also demanded the immediate release of Palestinian prisoners. Moreover, he expressed hope that the upcoming conference between France and Saudi Arabia will bring positive developments for the creation of a Palestinian state. The ambassador highlighted that peace can only be achieved by protecting Palestinian rights.
In his address, Ambassador Asim referred to the UN Secretary General’s recent report on the implementation of Resolution 2334, which condemns illegal Israeli settlements in occupied Palestinian territories. The report describes the humanitarian crisis in Gaza as “shocking” and “unbearable.” He echoed these words, calling on the UN and member states to take meaningful action without further delay.
The report further states that families in Gaza have been displaced repeatedly and now live on less than one-fifth of Gaza’s original land area. Even these limited safe zones are constantly under threat. Pakistan stressed that this ongoing tragedy must not be allowed to worsen. It also called for concrete international efforts to provide safety and relief to the Palestinian people.
Meanwhile, Pakistan continues to support diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving the crisis and ensuring Palestinian statehood. The government has consistently raised the issue at international forums and has backed peaceful, just solutions based on UN resolutions. The ambassador reaffirmed Pakistan’s firm commitment to the rights and freedom of Palestinians.
As the humanitarian situation grows more critical each day, Pakistan believes the time for symbolic statements is over. Instead, it is urging the world to take real steps that can bring relief, justice, and hope to the people of Gaza.
