Police have ruled out foul play or suicide in the death of actor Humaira Asghar. A new report suggests her death was likely accidental or due to natural causes. The report was released by South DIG Syed Asad Raza, who led the investigation. It follows the discovery of her decomposed body in her Karachi apartment on July 8.
According to the findings, there were no signs of struggle, injury, or break-in. The doors were double-locked from inside, and all keys were found in the apartment. The post-mortem also showed no weapon marks or trauma. The report suggests she may have passed away while doing housework. However, the exact cause is still pending further toxicology and forensic tests.
The report noted that neighbours smelled something odd as far back as December 2024. Yet, no strong action was taken because Humaira often stayed away for long periods. The landlord had also filed for eviction and chose not to interact with her directly. A lack of security and CCTV in the building delayed discovery.
Digital analysis of her phone showed her last outgoing activity was on October 7, 2024. She contacted 14 people that day, with her final communication around 5 PM. Investigators believe she likely died later that same day. There was no evidence of activity or presence after that point.
Humaira’s body was buried in Lahore on July 11 after a quiet funeral. Due to the body’s advanced state of decomposition, the autopsy could not determine the cause of death. Still, investigators continue to examine the case using all available tools. Humaira, once a vibrant figure in theatre and visual arts, is now remembered for her early contributions to socially driven performances and PTV drama.
