After veteran actors Muhammad Ahmed and Faizan Khawaja raised concerns over delayed payments, Ahmed Ali Butt and Yasir Hussain have now also voiced their frustration. Both actors criticized the industry for its poor payment practices, saying artists are often left waiting months for their dues.
On Instagram, Yasir Hussain highlighted the issue by mentioning late actress Humaira Asghar, urging people to pray for her soul. However, he reminded followers that legends like Muhammad Ahmed are still alive and deserve support now. He called for the creation of a law to ensure timely payments for actors and crew, saying happy artists make better art.
Ahmed Ali Butt also shared a post, noting that most production houses and TV channels take 60 to 90 days to pay artists—but the wait usually extends even longer. He said delayed payments have become an industry norm, and even big sponsors from the corporate sector take months to release funds.
Butt added that only a few producers pay on time, while many force artists to beg for their payments—and even then, they’re paid in small installments, not all at once. This, he said, adds unnecessary stress and financial pressure on those working hard behind the scenes.
Earlier, actor Faizan Khawaja revealed that delayed payments pushed him to quit acting altogether. Muhammad Ahmed, too, had said in a video message that artists often have to chase payments like they’re asking for charity. The ongoing outcry reveals deep flaws in Pakistan’s entertainment payment system, calling for urgent reform to protect the rights and dignity of artists.
