Police on Monday arrested a landlord for tying up and illegally keeping a five-year-old girl in custody for allegedly breaking an orange in the Sadar Sarwar Shaheed area. According to police, SHO Irfan Faiz took swift action on the direction of District Police Officer (DPO) Dr Rizwan Ahmed Khan after receiving a call on police helpline 15. The accused, Nazar Hussain, had reportedly tied up the girl, Nazia Bibi, over the minor act. She was rescued by police, and a case was immediately registered against the accused, who was later arrested. SHO Irfan Faiz said that cruelty and injustice towards any citizen would not be tolerated. “Providing justice to the people is our top priority,” he said. In a related development, police action continued in the Kacha area, where robbers had taken away 180 buffalos belonging to local landlords. Police managed to recover two of the stolen animals and blocked exit routes in riverine areas to prevent the suspects from escaping to other districts. DPO Dr Rizwan Ahmed Khan said that more recoveries were expected soon, and arrests would follow. Last week, two criminal gangs – Bosan and Jhabeel – reportedly stole 180 buffalos and fled into the jungle area. Police teams under the supervision of the DPO launched a pursuit operation.
