Pakistan and Azerbaijan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to boost collaboration in legal and judicial sectors. The agreement was formalized during Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar’s official visit to Baku. This MoU creates a strong framework for cooperation in areas such as legal reforms, institutional exchanges, capacity building, and promoting the rule of law in both countries.
During the visit, Minister Tarar met Azerbaijan’s Prime Minister Ali Asadov. Both leaders emphasized the growing importance of legal diplomacy to strengthen bilateral ties and support economic and social cooperation. Tarar also held detailed talks with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Justice Farid Ahmadov, focusing on modernizing laws, improving judicial training, and sharing best practices for institutional development.
In a separate meeting with Azerbaijan’s Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Inam Karimov, the two sides discussed judicial reforms including the digitalization of court systems, use of e-courts, and improving dispute resolution mechanisms. They also agreed to work together to enhance transparency, access to justice, and efficiency in judicial processes.
The signed MoU specifically highlights cooperation in promoting alternative dispute resolution methods, encouraging the use of mediation and arbitration to reduce court burdens. It also includes joint efforts on digital transformation of legal services, exchange of legal knowledge, and training programs for judges and legal professionals in both countries.
This historic agreement signals a deepening partnership between Pakistan and Azerbaijan. Both nations reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen legal frameworks, promote justice sector reforms, and foster continued institutional collaboration for mutual growth and regional stability.
