
PUTRAJAYA – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar met Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on Friday during the 32nd ASEAN Regional Forum Ministerial Meeting. He conveyed warm regards from Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to deepening ties with Malaysia.
During the meeting, Ishaq Dar praised Malaysia’s role as the ASEAN Chair for 2025 and appreciated the country’s efforts in promoting regional cooperation. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim warmly welcomed the sentiments and expressed eagerness to host Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in October this year.
Deputy Prime Minister Dar also thanked Prime Minister Ibrahim for the warm hospitality and praised the well-organized ASEAN Regional Forum meeting. He highlighted the positive steps Malaysia has taken to boost trade and investment between the two countries following Anwar Ibrahim’s visit to Pakistan last year.
In a related development, Ishaq Dar met Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Thursday during the forum in Kuala Lumpur. Both leaders expressed their commitment to further strengthen bilateral relations and discussed plans to meet again during the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Ministers session.
Their talks focused on expanding cooperation in multiple sectors, reflecting shared goals for mutual growth and regional peace. Both sides agreed to continue working together to enhance strategic partnerships.
The meetings mark a significant step forward for Pakistan in strengthening diplomatic and economic relations with key global partners, highlighting Islamabad’s active engagement in regional and international affairs.
