LONDON – Jemima Goldsmith, ex-wife of PTI founder Imran Khan, has voiced deep concern over threats reportedly made against her sons if they attempt to visit their father in Pakistan.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Jemima said her children, Sulaiman and Qasim Khan, are being warned of arrest if they travel to meet their father, who has now spent nearly two years in solitary confinement. She added that the boys are not even allowed to speak to him on the phone.
“This doesn’t happen in a democracy or a functioning state,” Jemima remarked, calling the treatment “personal revenge” rather than politics. She questioned the fairness of denying children the basic right to speak to their parent.
Meanwhile, Imran Khan’s son Qasim also expressed concern through social media, stating that his father is being denied access to legal counsel and family members. He stressed that Khan’s personal physician has also been refused visitation.
“This is not justice – this is an attempt to isolate and break a man who stood for the rule of law and democracy in Pakistan,” Qasim wrote, highlighting the emotional and physical toll of solitary confinement.
While Barrister Aqeel clarified that Khan’s sons, being British nationals, cannot be involved in Pakistani politics, the family continues to call for fair treatment and basic human rights for the former prime minister.
