ISLAMABAD – July 10, 2025: A local court in Islamabad has acquitted former National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser in the Long March vandalism case, bringing an end to legal proceedings against him in this matter.
The decision was announced by Judicial Magistrate Abbas Shah, who accepted Qaiser’s plea for acquittal. The court stated that there was insufficient evidence to justify continuing the trial against the senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader.
The case was related to an alleged incident of rioting and property damage during the party’s 2022 Long March protest, which took place in the federal capital. An FIR had been registered at Kohsar Police Station against several PTI leaders, including Asad Qaiser.
Qaiser’s legal team argued that he was not present at the scene, and the prosecution had no credible evidence linking him to any unlawful act. The court found the arguments convincing and ruled in his favor.
This verdict is seen as a legal win for the PTI leadership, many of whom have faced multiple cases since 2022 related to protests, rallies, and political unrest. Party supporters welcomed the news, calling it a step toward justice and political fairness.
