Federal Ombudsperson for Protection Against Harassment, Fauzia Viqar, met with Additional Chief Secretary South Punjab during her visit to the South Punjab Secretariat. The meeting focused on improving coordination to prevent workplace harassment and expanding public awareness initiatives.
Ms Viqar said that creating safe and secure environments for women in public institutions remains her top priority. She announced that an improved complaint redressal system would be introduced across government departments in South Punjab.
Mr Rabbani underlined the need for better coordination between government departments and the Ombudsperson’s Secretariat to protect women’s rights. He noted that women were playing a vital role in national development and that South Punjab’s administration was committed to empowering them.
He added that the South Punjab Secretariat had achieved several milestones in a short period, including full digitisation through an electronic file management system.
Key initiatives under way, he said, include successful AI and IT exhibitions, the “Zero Out of School Children” campaign, a historic forts conservation project in Cholistan, and a Rs780 million programme to eradicate Foot-and-Mouth Disease in livestock in Bahawalnagar district.
