Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has announced a major development plan aimed at transforming Islamabad into a more sports-friendly and visually appealing city. Under this initiative, 54 new playgrounds will be constructed across the capital.
According to the approved plan, 25 new cricket grounds and 25 football grounds will be developed in various sectors of Islamabad. Additionally, three specialized grounds will be built to specifically promote the sport of football among youth and aspiring athletes.
To support the growth of cricket, Naqvi has also ordered the allocation of space for an indoor cricket ground. Furthermore, five cricket academies have received approval to offer structured training to young players and help groom future talent.
In addition to sports facilities, the city will also see a boost in entertainment and beautification projects. A dancing fountain will be installed in F-9 Park, while a light show has been approved for Lake View Park to enhance its appeal for families and tourists.
Moreover, plans are being finalized for a cable car, Ferris wheel, and a theme park to boost tourism. All major highways will be beautified with landmark signs to give the city a cleaner and more modern look.
These new developments reflect the government’s broader vision to make Islamabad a hub of sports, recreation, and tourism, improving both the lifestyle of residents and the city’s image on a national scale.
